AEW Dynamite (7/22): Kevin Knight Made It Ten, Then Made It Personal

July 22, 2026 · Live from The Pinnacle in Nashville, Tennessee

These are the full AEW Dynamite results from The Pinnacle in Nashville. Two nights out from Redemption in Montreal, AEW is in full build mode, which usually means a show that exists to set the table. This one did that and then spent its last ninety seconds turning the main event on its head.

Backstage: Omega, Ospreay, and an Unwelcome Guest

We open backstage with Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay talking through the trios match, both of them offering to tag out if the other needs to protect himself for Redemption. It’s polite. It’s a little too polite. Then Jon Moxley wanders in, says almost nothing, and leaves the whole thing feeling sideways. Three men on the same team, none of them entirely sure about the other two. More on this later.

TNT Championship: Kevin Knight (c) Defeats Darby Allin by Pinfall

Darby comes in doing what Darby does, which is throw his body at a problem until the problem gives up. He nearly gets there. What gets him instead is the referee going down, and Knight cracking him in the head with the TNT Title while nobody with authority is looking. From there it’s the coast-to-coast dropkick and the UFO splash, and that’s ten. Ten defenses. A record. The Jet has quietly become the most consistent champion on this show, and he did it this week by cheating in front of everybody. That’s a heel turn in results-column form.

Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher Trade Words

Knight, Kyle Fletcher, and Mark Davis are out to talk Redemption, and Knight can’t help himself. Ten defenses, he says, and not one of them needed Family help. Fletcher’s response is to request that all ringside personnel be banned from his AEW International Championship defense against Bandido. On paper that’s a babyface ask. In context it’s Fletcher telling his own faction he doesn’t need them either. The Don Callis Family has always run on a low hum of resentment. The hum got louder.

Brodido (Bandido & Brody King) Defeat ProtOkada (Kyle Fletcher & Kazuchika Okada) by Pinfall

Fletcher gets to test the theory immediately, and it goes badly. Okada catches him flush with a thrust kick meant for Bandido, and Bandido folds him up with the 21 Plex for the three. Fletcher’s first move after the bell is to blame Okada, which is exactly what he’d just spent a segment insisting he wouldn’t need to do. Then Andrade appears and points at Mark Davis, because apparently one collapsing alliance per hour wasn’t enough.

Chris Jericho Vignette

A short Painmaker video promising Tommaso Ciampa a bad Sunday. The line: “I am The Painmaker. And Tommaso Ciampa, at Redemption, hell is coming for you!” Jericho vignettes live or die on whether he’s committing, and he is committing.

Face-to-Face: Thekla vs. Willow Nightingale (Moderated by Mick Foley)

Mick Foley plays referee for a conversation that was never going to stay a conversation. Thekla, flanked by Julia Hart and Skye Blue, tells Willow she’s “poison inside.” Willow tells Thekla the problem is how small Thekla feels. Then Thekla cracks her with the microphone and reaches for the belt to whip her with it, and Willow pounces her clean out of the ring. AEW Women’s World Championship, Sunday. This one has actual heat on it now, which hasn’t always been true of this build.

Maya World and Hikaru Shida Set the Table

TBS Champion Hikaru Shida and Maya World trade jabs, with World promising to take the title on Sunday. Short, functional, gets the match on the card in people’s heads.

Jay White Defeats Clark Connors by Submission

Switchblade’s first singles match since March 2025, and he walks out carrying David Finlay’s shillelagh, which is one way to announce your intentions. Bang Bang Gang is with him. He wins clean with a guillotine choke bridged into the mat, and then everything falls apart: Connors jumps him from behind, White answers with a Blade Runner, Finlay arrives and cracks him with the shillelagh, and Juice Robinson and the rest of the Gang have to run the Dogs off. Good to have him back. Better that they gave him something to be angry about immediately.

The Death Riders Ambush Adam Copeland and Christian Cage

Claudio Castagnoli and PAC jump the AEW World Tag Team Champions with road cases, because subtlety is for other factions. PAC’s parting line is that Cope and Cage “bit off more than they can chew.” More on this later, presumably with the tag titles involved.

AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship, No Disqualification: Divine Dominion (c) Defeat Sisters of Sin by Pinfall

This is the one that gets remembered. Lena Kross and Megan Bayne against Skye Blue and Julia Hart with no rules, and they use every one of them: chairs, kendo sticks, a table set up on the entrance ramp, and Bayne throwing Skye Blue through a table hard enough to get a genuine “holy shit” chant out of Nashville. Divine Intervention on Hart finishes it and the champions retain. The women’s tag division has been looking for a match that made it feel essential. It just got one.

Juice Robinson Issues a Challenge

Juice comes out to make it official: Bang Bang Gang vs. The Dogs at Redemption, in a Double Chain Tag Team Match. Which is exactly the correct response to being hit with a shillelagh.

Main Event: Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay & Jon Moxley Defeat the Don Callis Family by Pinfall

Brian Cage, Hechicero, and Jake Doyle isolate the babyfaces for a long stretch, including putting Ospreay through a table, before Omega and Ospreay hit Hechicero simultaneously with the Hidden Blade and the V-Trigger and Omega gets the pin. And then the actual story starts. Omega had caught Moxley with a V-Trigger during the match. He tries to apologize afterward; Moxley responds by putting hands on him. Ospreay steps between them and Omega shoves him hard enough to end the argument. The Young Bucks come out, six men start brawling, and in the middle of it Kevin Knight walks down and cracks Omega with the TNT Title until he’s bleeding. Last shot of the night: Knight standing over the AEW World Champion holding both belts.

Final Thoughts

Dynamite came in with one job (sell Redemption) and left with a bigger one, because Kevin Knight just spent one night beating Darby Allin, bragging about it, and then bloodying the world champion with the title he’d retained ninety minutes earlier. The trios main event was the best kind of go-home segment, the kind where the winners walk out with more problems than the losers. Add the women’s tag match, which was the best thing on the show by a distance, and this was a genuinely good build show. Redemption is Sunday from Montreal. Omega goes into it with a cut on his forehead and two of his own guys not speaking to him.
